Sunny Hostin Did Community Service, Enjoyed Wings Instead Of Watching Trump's Inauguration

Sunny Hostin of “The View” is offering a masterclass in the art of safeguarding one’s peace.

During the segment that aired on Tuesday, host Joy Behar asked, “Did something happen? Did something happen yesterday?” To which Ana Navarro quickly responded, “Yes. It was Martin Luther King Day.”

Navarro’s quip earned applause, and Behar continued to recount the events of the previous day.

“A certain person, Donald Trump, was sworn back into the White House,” Behar remarked, adding that she watched the “whole thing” due to what she called a “masochistic streak.” She then turned to her co-hosts, asking if anyone had watched Trump’s inauguration.

“I decided to protect my peace and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday,” Hostin revealed.

“I did not watch the inauguration. My sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. had a service day in Harlem [New York] yesterday. I enjoyed that. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and watched Notre Dame unfortunately not be victorious, but I went with a bunch of my law school buddies and we ate wings,” Hostin continued. “Thank you, Tony, who’s the manager there, for making me feel good.”

Hostin didn’t stop there — she took the opportunity to highlight the “hypocrisy”  and “irony” of Trump’s inauguration coinciding with a day meant to honor MLK Jr. As a seasoned lawyer, she pointed out the stark contrast between Trump’s agenda, which is aimed at dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion, and the vision of Dr. King, who not only fought for racial equality but for economic justice.

“I want to remind people that he said, ‘Black Americans deserved reparations for the injustices they faced,’” Hostin continued. “He argued that reparations were a form of justice, in fact, not charity.”

Hostin then turned her focus to Trump’s qualifications to hold the highest political office in the land.

Trump “didn’t become the president of the United States because of merit,” she said. Hostin went on to say he really has “no political experience whatsoever.” She continued by saying Trump hasn’t worked for anything that he has and referred to him as a “legacy hire.”

“He is, if anything, a DEI hire. A didn’t-earn-it hire,” Hostin said.
