In need of some sun? Here's where's hot in November
Yep, autumn may have only just arrived, but we're already desperate for some winter sun. If this summer taught us anything it's that we really like just being in a bikini, margarita in hand and our only concern being what book we're going to read that day. And who says this has to end? There's plenty of short and long haul destinations that are still very warm and full of sunshine. So whether you've got a few days of annual leave to use up before the end of the year or want to plan the ultimate two-week adventure, here's our favourite destinations that are still hot in November.
Athens, Greece
Average temperature: 18 degrees
Flight time from London: 3 hours and 4o minutes
A last-minute city break with glorious sunshine? Yep, you need to head to Athens. The Greek capital has it all, from culture (the literal Acropolis is there) to shops and a rapidly growing restaurant and bar scene. And if you head further afield there are number of breathtaking beaches, including Astir and Voula, where you can hang out at beach clubs too.
Antalya, Turkey
Average temperature: 22 degrees
Flight time from London: 4 hours and 15 minutes
With plenty of all inclusive resorts and luxury hotels, Antalya on the Turkish Riviera is ideal if you want to fly and flop. Think: swimming in the sea, reading by the pool and spending your evenings eating fresh fish and sipping on cocktails.
Fuerteventura, Spain
Average temperature: 21 degrees
Flight time from London: 4 hours and 15 minutes
The second largest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura often gets overlooked in favour of Lanzarote and Tenerife, but honestly, you've been sleeping on its potential. With its white sandy beaches, crystal clear sea and plenty of water sports, including scuba diving and windsurfing on offer, it's ideal for anyone looking for an active time away.
Funchal, Madeira
Average temperature: 21 degrees
Flight time from London: 3 hours and 50 minutes
The small Portuguese island of Madeira, is the ideal place to spend those last few days of annual leave and because of the island's size, a lot can be done in just a long weekend. Madeira is a hiker's paradise, with many popular trails dotted around the island. Make sure you don't leave without hiking the Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo for sunrise. There's also the famous Carrieros sledge rides to try, plenty of gardens and caves to explore, and also gorgeous hotels to chill at at the end of the day.
Ahangama, Sri Lanka
Average temperature: 28 degrees
Flight time from London: 11 hours and 15 minutes
While there's so much to love and explore in Sri Lanka and you could easily make an entire itinerary around exploring the country, one place you can't miss is Ahangama. The beach side paradise draws surfers from around the world and its laidback vibe attracts friendly folk who want to relax, embrace time spent in nature and soak up some sun.
Bermuda
Average temperature: 22 degrees
Flight time from London: 7 hours and 25 minutes
The rainy Caribbean season comes to an end in November, making it ideal time to fit in a holiday before the Christmas travellers take over in December. We'd recommend a trip to Bermuda, where you can fully relax on the stunning pink sand beaches the island is known for.
Holbox, Mexico
Average temperature: 22 degrees
Flight time from London: 7 hours and 25 minutes
Mexico is always a good idea for getting those extra hours of sun in, but head to Holbox for the ultimate chilled back Mexican retreat. The island is only accessible by passenger ferry, off the coast of Cancun, and you travel around on golf buggies or bicycles, which just adds to the laid back feel. When you're not spending time on the beach with mezcalitas, there's boat trips to go on and whale shark spotting to be done.
