Subtle detail in first Prince William and Kate portrait
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have wowed fans with a stunning new portrait unveiled at the Fitzwilliam Museum in the UK.
It is the first official portrait the pair has had painted together, with the unveiling coming just a few days after Prince William's 40th birthday.
Kate Middleton looks stunning in a glamorous emerald green Falconetti gown, accessorising it with a pair of green Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi 105’ satin pumps, while Prince William stands next to her in a sharp black suit and blue tie.
Royal commentators have pointed out a subtle hidden detail, however, with Kate's dress similar to the one Prince William's late mother Princess Diana wore to the 1990 London premiere of The Hunt For Red October.
In a further tribute to her late mother-in-law, Kate also wore the Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings that were gifted to Princess Diana on her wedding day, as well as a four-strand pearl bracelet.

In the portrait, Kate also gave a nod to Queen Mary's mother, Princess Augusta, who became the Duchess of Cambridge in 1818.
Vanity Fair reports Kate donned a brooch that previously belonged to the royal, with the impressive accessory featuring a pearl surrounded by diamonds.
The portrait was painted by award-winning artist Jamie Coreth, and many fans were stunned by his work.
"I thought it was a photo!!!! Wowww," one said.
"Incredibly STUNNING!!!" another said.
"Truly exceptional. We have been waiting for this day after the several that were done for Charles and Diana. Future King and Queen right here," a third added.
Posting a photo of the portrait on their official Instagram account, the Duke and Duchess said they were delighted to see it unveiled.
"They were made for royalty," one fan commented.
"Hard to believe this is a painting and not a picture. Extremely well and expertly done. You both look fantastic," another said.
"Regal, elegant and gorgeous," a third gushed.
