In the first trailer for Hulu's Paradise, we meet Brown's character, Xavier Collins, the head of security for former president Cal Bradford, played by James Marsden. He's precise and effective at his job protecting Bradford — he's even let in on top-secret government information, because he's so trusted — and the father of two young children.

But when his asset ends up dead, he's a suspect.

Watch the trailer below:

Brown's character is informed that he was the last to see the man alive, which worsens his situation. He's then asked by his interrogator (played by Sarah Shahi), "Is a part of you happy that Cal is dead?"

Before he can answer, the interrogator flashes her palm so he alone can see that she's scrawled a message: "SAY YES."

There's no explanation before the trailer ends. Talk about a cliffhanger!

Here's the official description: "Paradise is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high-stakes investigation unfolds."

Since This Is Us ended in May 2022, Brown's work has including the 2024 Jennifer Lopez sci-fi film Atlas and last year's Oscar-winning satire American Fiction.

Paradise premieres Jan. 28 on Hulu.
