Stephen Colbert Hits Trump With A Brutally Short Direct Message

Stephen Colbert said Donald Trump’s selection of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for secretary of state came as a surprise given the history of bad blood between the two.

“Back when Rubio was running against Trump in the 2016 primary, he hit Trump below the belt,” Colbert recalled, then rolled footage of Rubio making an implication about the size of Trump’s penis.

“You know what they say about men with small hands,” Rubio said at the time.

The “Late Show” host finished the thought given Rubio’s fealty to Trump recently: “They keep your balls in a jar on their desk?”

Colbert said Rubio apparently made a calculation about Trump’s popularity and “set his lips on butt smooch.”

He added there’s a lesson for everyone in this.

“Even if you spend years insulting Donald Trump, you can get back in his good graces just by praising him,” Colbert pointed out. “Which is why I’d like to take this opportunity to say to our new president-elect...”

Colbert turned to a new camera angle and addressed Trump with a single word: “Pass.”

The audience roared with approval.
