Starbucks Refreshes Its Menus With 3 New Mocktail-Style Drinks

Starbucks is spreading the love with an official Valentine's Day menu update.

The coffee giant previously hinted that another big update was coming when it confirmed that its popular lavender drinks would be returning this year. But now we know even more is coming with the colorful seasonal favorites.

Beginning tomorrow, Starbucks menus nationwide will be refreshed with the addition of the all-new Blackberry Sage Refreshers and the Midnight Drink, both of which the company described as a balanced but "surprising flavor combination."

Starbucks' Blackberry Sage Refresher "features flavors of sweet blackberries paired with notes of sage" shaken with ice, green coffee extract for a caffeine boost, dried blackberries, and a "dusting of sage." Customers can also order the bev as a Blackberry Sage Lemonade Refresher should they feel so inclined.

Its new Midnight Drink also features flavors of sweet blackberries and sage as well as the addition of green coffee extract, but it slightly differs from the refresher in that it adds coconut milk for what we expect to be a creamier, richer, fruity flavor.

We got a first taste of the new Blackberry Sage Refresher (sans lemonade), and the short of it is we'd order it again. The drink on its own is well-balanced and not overly sweet, thanks to the natural tartness of blackberries. It's also not savory, should you feel apprehensive about the sage aspect. Starbucks baristas must truly only include a "dusting" of herb, as the flavor is very much in the background, creating more of a fresh element to what's honestly a really good mocktail or mixer (we would recommend adding vodka or gin).

Starbucks also announced on Monday that it's bringing back two other fan-favorite beverages as part of its Valentine's Day offerings: the Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew, which combines Starbucks Cold Brew with vanilla syrup before being topped off with "silky, chocolatey hazelnut flavored cream cold foam and chocolate cookie crumbles," and the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino Blended Beverage, which features "a blend of strawberry puree, Frappuccino® chips, milk and ice, which is layered on top of a splash of strawberry puree and finished with whipped cream and mocha drizzle."
