St. Jude Addresses Viral Fundraising Mailer Mistake
St. Jude has spoken out after a misprinted fundraising mailer went viral on TikTok, making it appear as though a young patient with leukemia was calling the recipient a "ho."
One user shared the astonishing card her father received from the children's research hospital which featured a photograph of a girl named Mila on the front. Once open, the card simply read, "HO," with the H blown up on the left half and the O on the right, leaving the TikToker, named Kailee Walker, covering her mouth in shock.
Other social media users had a field day with the mistake, joking that Mila was "very clear on her feelings towards [her] father" and that the man "didn’t donate enough for the rest of the card."
"HO is you donating to St Jude or nah?" someone else questioned, with many finding joy in the fact that "Mila [was] just out here roasting people via USPS at age 3 😂."
"I hope her family finds this hilarious," they added.
The card was meant to say "Hope," as indicated by St. Jude's response to the humorous error: "Sometimes hope may come in parts. We’ve let our teams know, to help prevent this in the future!"
Mila's mom caught onto the mistake, too, commenting, "This is hilarious, thank you so much for sharing. Promise Mila has no beat with anyone!"
"I think the entire card [is] supposed to say HOPE…. Whoops 😬," she added, sharing in an additional comment that Mila is currently "doing great" and "Living her best life!"
While the OP was initially startled by the presentation of the fundraising attempt, many other TikTokers said it was perfect.
"I would 100% donate if I got a card calling me a ho 😂," one laughed.
"Honestly keep it up," Walker replied to the hospital's social media manager. "Way to target gen z."
"This is how you get the youngens engaged in philanthropy," someone agreed.
"Ho can you spare a dollar," others continued to joke.
"I hope you donated," someone else wrote seriously. "St Jude is obviously struggling and can’t fund the other half of the card. 😆😢."
