Sofía Vergara Is a Bombshell in Red at the 2024 Emmys
Sofía Vergara is a vision at the 76th annual Emmy Awards.
The Modern Family alum walked the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles tonight in a striking red gown. It was a strapless floor-length dress with a plunging neckline and ruched, ribbed details arranged in symmetrical patterns all over.
She complemented the head-turning rouge piece with diamond chandelier earrings and some rings. Her caramel brown hair was styled in silky waves and she wore a sparkly bronze shadow.
Tonight is a big night Vergara, who nabbed her first Emmy nomination as a leading actress for her role as Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco role in Netflix’s Griselda. She is the first Colombian-born actress and second Latina actress nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Griselda is based on real-life drug kingpin Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most brutal drug cartels in the world, in Miami in the ’70s.
“There were many similarities with her that I felt that I connected,” Vergara said in a recent interview with CBS of relating to her character. “I lived in Colombia during the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s when the narco traffic was crazy. My brother died in that era. He was killed because he was part of that business. So, I kind of like had a lot of things, you know, I don’t want to say I had things in common, but I have to.”
