Nobody does glamor like Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton built her whole country star persona around being glamorous. As a girl growing up in the Great Smoky Mountains, she didn't have a lot of examples of glamor to look to for inspiration. But there was a "town tramp," as Parton calls her, who the "9 to 5" singer thought was the perfect picture of womanhood. It was this woman who largely inspired Parton's ideas of what glamor is.
The "Jolene" singer posted a throwback photo recently of herself done up in true Dolly Parton style. Her hair is voluptuous and curly, her blush and eyeshadow are bright pink, and her pale pink dress is covered with sparkles and geometric shapes. Parton fit into the 80s perfectly.
"I feel glamorous on the inside, so I want to look like it on the outside. 💖" Parton captioned the post.
Her fans, of course, agree, with one calling her the "most glamorous country star ever."
"You are the Queen/goddess of glamour and talent and beauty. Love you Dolly. FOREVER 💗💗💗," writes another Instagram user, with another commenting, "Dolly you are the definition of glamour always."
No matter the decade, Dolly Parton remains the gold standard for glamor in country music.
