Simone Biles Teases Major Decision About Possible Retirement

Simone Biles is still buzzing from her successful run at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which she recently admitted may have been her last time competing in the Games.

According to the 11-time Olympic medalist, the possibility of retirement might be in her imminent future.

Biles, 27, made the confession during the newest installment of her Netflix docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, which dropped its fourth episode on Friday, Oct. 25.

In the episode, which was filmed after this year's Summer Olympics, the athlete said, "At this moment in my career, I feel like if I had to process it, it would be bittersweet."

While in Paris, Biles won three new medals to add to her collection: three gold and one silver, officially making her the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history.

"I mean, we've been longing for this for a while now and now it's here. It's gone," she said, without ever explicitly stating that her gymnastics career is officially coming to an end.

She did, however, express her uncertainty over what comes next.

"Now I’m like, ‘Oh my god,’" she continued. "Like, what happens in life now?"

Going on to explain what she's going to "miss most" about the sport, Biles said, "is the freedom with my body."

"The ability that I have in the gym is not normal. But I've had to work in other areas of my life and that's taught me the lessons and brought me to be who I am today," she said.

Speaking about her gymnastics career in the past tense, Biles added, "If I look back at my career, honestly, the thing I'd be most proud of is staying true to myself and never swaying from that."

Biles famously pulled out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics over mental health concerns, a decision that she doesn't seem to regret one bit.

"We took it one day at a time," she said of her gymnastics career in the docuseries. “And for that I’m grateful."
