Shakira has had a challenging time since splitting from her ex Gerard Piqué.

During an interview with Live From E!: Grammys on Sunday, Feb. 2, the Latin pop star, 48, revealed that she's "grown" a lot since her split from her longtime boyfriend, 38, in June 2022.

"I've grown a lot," Shakira told the outlet during the 2025 Grammy Awards. "I've learned a lot of lessons. Life hasn't always been kind, but it's been a good teacher."

However, she added, referencing her 2009 song "She Wolf": "The she wolf is still here."

Shakira also opened up about celebrating her 48th birthday at the awards show this year.

"It's a gift to me, I'm sure," said the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker. "Five years ago, I was also at the Super Bowl, also on my birthday. So, it's a coincidence that these big moments always happen on my birthday. Maybe it's some sort of heavenly present."

Last night, Shakira took home the best Latin pop album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, which Jennifer Lopez — who took the stage alongside her during 2020's Super Bowl LIV Halftime show — presented to her.

“Wow, this is incredible,” the "Waka Waka" singer began her acceptance speech. “Thank you so much. Thank you so much.”

She also used the moment to share a very personal message.

“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country, you are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you,” Shakira said, amid news that President Donald Trump and his administration have doubled down on their immigration crackdown, enforcing deportations.

She added: “And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true shoes. So this is for you, too."

In June 2022, Shakira and Piqué announced their separation in a joint statement.

"We regret to confirm that we are separating," they said, requesting privacy for the well-being of their children, who are their "maximum priority."

Piqué allegedly cheated on Shakira multiple times, including with his current girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

In June 2023, Shakira addressed the split in an interview with People en Español.

"Everything happened at once," she said. "My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU."

The former couple first met in 2010 on the set of the "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" music video, which featured multiple footballers, including Piqué — an FC Barcelona defender who caught Shakira's eye.
