Selena Gomez's relationship with Benny Blanco, from music collaborations to engagement
This isn't the "Same Old Love" for Selena Gomez and record producer Benny Blanco.
The couple, who revealed their engagement on Instagram late Wednesday night, have been smitten with each other for over a year, after first revealing their relationship last December. In interviews and at events, including while sharing PDA at her Rare Impact Fundraiser in October, they've been the image of bliss.
Throughout 2024, the couple has indicated they are in it for the long haul, culminating in their forthcoming nuptials. Here's a look back at their time together.
2015: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco begin working together
The "Lose You to Love Me" singer has worked with the record producer since 2015 on her album "Revival" for its singles "Kill Em with Kindness" and "Same Old Love." The couple also collaborated on his 2019 track "I Can't Get Enough" and her 2023 record "Single Soon." (Blanco has also collaborated with Gomez's ex Justin Bieber on "Eenie Meenie" with Sean Kingston and "Love Yourself.")
In a Time interview published in May, Gomez opened up about how their romance started, saying that though she'd only considered him a friend at first, she'd discovered her feelings were romantic after attending a birthday party to meet his friend. "It just happens when you least expect it," Gomez said.

Last December, the couple went public with their relationship, with Gomez posting a series of Instagram photos from a trip to New York, including a photo of her kissing the hitmaking producer.
In a since-deleted comment at the time, the Rare Beauty founder appeared to reveal the two had already been dating for six months.
When Gomez first unveiled her relationship with Blanco, she wrote in another since-deleted Instagram comment: "He is my absolute everything in my heart." The couple have remained smitten ever since.

May 2024: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco gush over each other in interviews
Speaking with Time in May, Gomez clarified that Blanco "isn't my only source of happiness" and opened up about how refreshing it is to have a partner unbothered by online hate, especially as Gomez herself is the most-followed woman on Instagram.
"I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life," she said. "But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him. It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him.
"I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that he's not going anywhere any time soon."
On the "Howard Stern Show" that same month, Blanco shared a few details about his relationship. "She's the coolest, the nicest, the sweetest," Blanco told Stern. "She's truly just like my best friend."
When asked about having kids, Blanco said, "That's, like, my next goal." And when Stern said "I'm predicting marriage," Blanco replied: "You and me both."
October 2024: Benny Blanco is one of the night's biggest donors at Selena Gomez's charity event
Blanco sat with Gomez and her inner circle at the Rare Impact Fundraiser, including her sister and mom, near the stage.
Blanco's donation — a one-hour virtual cooking class with him and his friend, "The Bear" star (and real-life chef) Matty Matheson — sparked a bidding war that went up to $7,500. As for his qualifications, earlier this year, Blanco released a cookbook "filled with insane recipes."

Blanco was then embroiled in a bidding war over a five-night stay at a three-story villa in an exclusive community in western Mexico, courtesy of Airbnb. Ample use of his No. 5 auction paddle paid off: Blanco was named the champion with a winning $25,000 bid for the vacation stay. He later committed at the highest donation level, $20,000, to the Rare Impact Fund.
November 2024: Benny Blanco spills on dating Selena Gomez in People's Sexiest Man Alive interview
In November, as part of People's Sexiest Man Alive Issue, he gushed about his then-girlfriend and going "all out" for each other on date nights, including the time Gomez rented out a botanical garden.
"I have a true best friend that I get to do everything in the world with, and every day is the best day of my life," he said of the time they spend together.
He recalled a Valentine's Day where he got her Taco Bell — which made a reappearance in her engagement announcement — made her "movie-theater nachos" and shipped her favorite pickles in from Texas.
In response, Gomez raved about her beau in an Instagram story: "Not only do you love me unconditionally, you always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza."
Who is Selena Gomez engaged to?
Gomez has previously been romantically linked to Nick Jonas, The Weeknd and Zedd. But her most long-term relationship had been with Bieber, whom she dated on-again and off-again from 2010 to 2018. Blanco is her most public relationship since.
Blanco is the pop record producer and songwriter behind hits for Britney Spears ("Circus"), Bieber ("Eenie Meenie" with Sean Kingston and "Love Yourself"), Maroon 5 ("Moves Like Jagger" with Christina Aguilera), Ed Sheeran ("Perfect") and Rihanna ("Diamonds").
He's also a frequent collaborator with Kesha, for the songs "Tik Tok," "Your Love Is My Drug," "We R Who We R," "Blow" and "Die Young," and Katy Perry, on the tracks "Hot n Cold," "I Kissed a Girl," "California Gurls" and "Teenage Dream." His own record, "Eastside" with Halsey and Khalid, is six times platinum.
