Selena Gomez may have the engagement ring of her dreams, but it seems her new bling didn't always look exactly as it does now. Speaking with her fiancé Benny Blanco in a new interview with Interview Magazine, the pair revealed that there was actually a lot of back and forth about the ring's design, thanks to a little indecision on Gomez's part.
"She showed me designs and I would always throw little hints. I’d be like, 'Yeah, but if I ever made one, would you want it like this?'" Blanco said. "And then she changed her mind halfway through. It used to have huge baguettes on the side and then she was like, 'I don’t want something that big.'"
Eventually, he said, the extra bling was removed. "Yeah, so now I have extra baguettes and we’re going to make earrings for her," he said. "She basically has three wedding rings."

Gomez and Blanco first confirmed their romance in December 2023 and got engaged almost exactly one year later. The final ring design features a massive 8-carat marquise-shaped diamond, which fans believe to be a subtle nod to Gomez's 2015 hit song "Good For You," featuring A$AP Rocky. In the track, the musician describes herself as a "marquise diamond" that could "even make Tiffany jealous." The lyrics read: "I'm on my marquise diamonds / I'm a marquise diamond / Could even make that Tiffany jealous."

As for Blanco's proposal? He got down on one knee while surrounded by a picnic setup that included a full Taco Bell feast. An impromptu gathering of friends and family followed soon after. “Benny and Selena were so excited to share the news right away with their loved ones," a source told People at the time. "It's such a true partnership between them."
