There are many ways actors get into character for upcoming projects: on-the-ground research, interviews, and collaborating with various coaches. But for Selena Gomez? It includes a full-on beauty transformation.

On Saturday, the actress attended the premiere of her bestie Nicola Peltz's film Lola and debuted an entirely new look on the red carpet. For the occasion, she wore a black pantsuit that consisted of cropped trousers and a thigh-skimming blazer with a silky white corset top underneath. She accessorized with a white rhinestone-studded clutch from Valentino and a pair of nude pointed-toe heels — however, the most head-turning part of her look was the combination of a red lip with Linda Ronstadt-esque bangs.

Selena's forehead fringe paired with her bold lipstick choice made her look even more like the legendary singer than she usually does (“I always used to get told that I look like her,” Gomez once revealed during a 2015 interview). And it's fitting, because Selena is slated to portray 11-time Grammy-winner in an upcoming biopic.

Last month, Selena's new role was announced by Great Eastern Music, an online publication founded by Ronstadt's manager, John Boylan. "The long-rumored Linda Ronstadt biopic is now up-and-running. Selena Gomez is attached to play Linda,” the announcement read on the website. “The two recently spent a few hours at Linda’s home discussing the project and getting to know each other.”

A few weeks later, Selena expressed her excitement over her casting on Instagram, writing: "I have no words to describe my heart for this project ... years of hoping this dream would become my reality." She followed up the message with a black-and-white photo of Linda, which she captioned, "Love your heart and soul for life and music."

Ronstadt reposted the story on her own account, adding pink hearts — according to People.
