Sabrina Carpenter's Baby Angel Faux Bob Was a Nod to Shirley MacLaine at the 2025 Grammys
It's a reference to "What a Way to Go."
As soon as Sabrina Carpenter stepped on the Grammys red carpet, her hair became the center of attention. She swapped her usual long, bouncy look for a short and sweet faux bob. From the front, we see her shorter layers curled into a look that mimics an asymmetrical bob. But from the back, we can see her lengths twisted into a French roll.
"We ensured the shape remained clean and structured, while in the front, we left soft, flirty texture to create the illusion of a chic, short haircut," shares hairstylist Evanie Frausto. "Of course, we styled her signature bangs, enhancing the effortless, sultry vibe. The final look was an undone yet refined updo—capturing that perfect balance of glamour and spontaneity, like the effortlessly sexy aftermath of a night out.”
Frausto, who used Redken products to achieve this stunning style, says the look started with the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Conditioner.
"After rinsing, we applied Redken Quick Blowout from roots to ends for heat protection and smoothness. While her hair was still damp, we worked in Redken Stay High Mousse, brushing it through for even distribution. To add extra volume, we applied a touch of Redken Root Lifter at the crown."
Then, Frausto blow-dried her hair using the L’Oréal Professionnel AirLight Pro along with a 1.25-inch metal round brush. "Once the blowout was complete, we curled her hair with a one-inch iron, pinning each curl to set," he says. "As the curls cooled, we misted Redken Control Hair Spray all over for added hold. After the curls had set, we took them down and brushed them out to create soft, effortless waves."
Sabrina's look—from her stunning updo to her jeweled halter neckline that descends into a down-to-there back necklace—is a nod to Shirley MacClaine's in "What a Way to Go." Sabrina is wearing a custom baby blue gown by JW Anderson with jewels by Chopard.
For makeup, MUA Carolina Gonzalez gave Sabrina a soft pinky nude look using makeup from Armani Beauty. She describes the look as part baby angel with a touch of romance.
"The look was Inspired by the highly glamorous and romantic feeling of her dress," Gonzalez shared in a press release. She used the Luminous Silk Foundation in shades 5.1 and 5.9, the Luminous Silk Concealer in shade 5.25, and the Luminous Silk Cheek Tint in shade 53.
