“Rust” Trial Is 'Stressful Situation' for Alec Baldwin and Wife Hilaria After Armorer's Verdict (Source)
"They just want the trial over with," says a source
Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria Baldwin continue to navigate a stressful time leading up to his trial over the 2021 fatal Rust shooting.
After Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the 26-year-old armorer involved in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, the couple are stressed about his separate trial, a source tells PEOPLE.
Alec, 65, was holding a prop gun on the set of the Western when it discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The cinematographer was 42 years old. Alec has his time in court scheduled for July in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“It continues to be a very stressful situation for Alec and Hilaria," says the source. "A not-guilty verdict for Hannah would have caused less stress."
"He still trusts his defense though. They just want the trial over with," the source adds.
A rep for Alec did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Alec was charged in January with involuntary manslaughter (negligent use of a firearm) or alternatively, with involuntary manslaughter (without due caution or circumspection). The actor, who has pleaded not guilty, faces up to 18 months in prison.
Jury members deliberated for less than three hours before finding Gutierrez Reed liable, in part, for the on-set death of Hutchins. She was, however, cleared on a separate charge of tampering with evidence, and her attorneys have said she plans to appeal her verdict.
Last April, charges against Alec were dropped. But prosecutors brought the case back in January, which the star and wife Hilaria, 40, found "frustrating," according to an insider at the time.
"It’s frustrating for them both that Alec is being recharged. They knew there was a possibility there would be a new indictment. The back and forth is hard," the insider said.
In 2022, just over one year after the Rust shooting, Hilaria, who shares seven kids with Alec, said in an interview with Extra, "We're not okay. We can't be okay. No one's okay. It was and is a tragedy that nobody could ever have imagined."
Hutchins' parents and sister were "satisfied" with the outcome of Gutierrez Reed's trial, their attorney said in a statement shortly after the verdict.
They "always wanted everyone who is responsible for Halyna’s death to be held accountable," said attorneys Gloria Allred and John Carpenter.
"Today was the first trial and conviction in the criminal justice process. ... We look forward to the justice system continuing to make sure that everyone else who is responsible for Halyna's death is required to face the legal consequences for their actions."
