Russell Crowe hints at new role with bizarre Instagram video
Russell Crowe’s followers were given an odd shock today after the Hollywood star shared a bizarre video of himself to his Instagram account.
In the short clip the 54-year-old films himself looking over the camera as he combs his long hair and scruffy beard all the while singing Christian hymn, ‘The Sweet By-and-By’.
It’s fair to say many fans were taken aback by his shaggy appearance that was a complete contrast to his gladiator days:
“Oh Russell, you keep coming up on my stream but I can’t wait for you to finish with this part and return to the hot, sexy man we all know you as lol. Mmm like Gladiator days.” One fan commented.
While others were a little harsher, calling it ‘creepy’ and saying, “This weirds me out”.
However fear not, after captioning the post “The actor prepares” it seems Russell may simply be giving us a sneak peek into one of his upcoming new roles.
And considering the Oscar-winning actor’s previous work we can only imagine his new film will be just as great.
Fans are already excited, saying they “can’t wait” to see his new film.
There is speculation that the beard may be for his upcoming role in the big screen adaptation of Peter Carey’s bestseller, The True History of the Kelly Gang.
With filming set to start in Australia this year, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Russell will be taking on the role of one of Ned Kelly’s associates, known as bushranger Harry Power.
