Mama Ru shared a clip from season 2 of the show that depicted her slapping Tyra in an acting challenge, days after the queen shared a widely criticized post about "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" winner The Vivienne's death.

Mama RuPaul has indirectly scolded one of her Drag Race daughters in the wake of season 2 winner Tyra Sanchez mocking the recent death of RuPaul's Drag Race UK's first crowned queen, The Vivienne.

On Wednesday, the Emmy-winning host shared a short clip from the 2010 season 2 finale's acting challenge, which saw her performing a scene in which she slapped Tyra across the face. The post comes after immense backlash to the alum's comments in the days following news of The Vivienne's death.

While numerous Drag Race contestants and RuPaul herself shared tributes to the late 32-year-old queen, Tyra resurfaced a five-year-old social media post from The Vivienne that referenced her. "Bet Tyra was fuming when she Realised Netflix Spoiled the win Too. Sorry gal. You Tried though," The Vivienne wrote in 2020, with Tyra replying after the queen's death: "Yet it doesn’t compare to the fumes of the crematorium."

Tyra's post drew widespread criticism from both fans and her fellow Drag Race alums (including Kandy Muse, DeJa Skye, Tatianna, new season 17 contestant Hormona Lisa, and more), but the season 2 queen doubled-down, continuing to mock the UK winner and All Stars 7 contestant's death in a series of posts on various social media accounts, including a response to the host's video clip.

Shortly after RuPaul's post, Tyra shared a message to her Instagram Story and an illustration of RuPaul to her grid. The caption of the post read, "Right back at ya. Puppet." Tyra's story added: “I am immensely thankful to everyone visiting my page this week. Whether showing love or showing your ass, you increased my page’s reach TREMENDOUSLY. Welcome to all new followers!" she wrote. "Two fingers in the sky to those who have left us. Special shoutouts to the ones who truly hate me yet hang around watching my every move. With you hanging around here you’ve increased the reach by 95%. Silly rabbits. You work for me. It is because of you that my name LIVES on."

Meanwhile, several Drag Race alums showed their support of RuPaul's post. "GET HER AGAIN FOR ME MAMMA!!!" wrote All Stars 5 winner Shea Couleé, who appeared on All Stars 7 with the late queen. "Mama's had enough nonsense," replied The Vivienne's UK season 1 sister Crystal. Kandy, Jiggly Caliente, Jasmine Kennedie, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Victoria Scone, and more also replied enthusiastically.

Tyra has previously addressed her notorious behavior in the Drag Race community — including past controversies involving falsely announcing the death of fellow season 2 queen Morgan McMichaels and allegedly being banned from DragCon after reportedly threatening the convention. ("I never threatened DragCon and I damn sure never apologized for it," Tyra previously told EW in an email.)

In response to Tyra's initial comments about The Vivienne, Kandy, who competed on season 13 and All Stars 8, replied with staunch criticism for the season 2 winner: "I've defended you for years but now you can absolutely go f--- yourself and if our path were to ever cross it's absolutely on sight bitch, it's not a threat it's a promise. you disgusting person," Kandy replied, with season 14's DeJa Skye adding that she felt Tyra is "a rotted person."

In 2023, James Ross — the artist behind the Tyra persona — was arrested in Starke, Fla. after publicly protesting his initial May 17, 2023 arrest for allegedly resisting arrest after a car accident, though charges were later dropped after Ross filed a complaint against the department.

After news of The Vivienne's death, RuPaul posted a statement on social media that read, "With a broken heart, I join the entire Drag Race universe in mourning the loss of The Vivienne—an incredibly talented queen and a lovely human being."
