‘Romeo And Juliet’ Starring Kit Connor & Rachel Zegler Extends Upcoming Broadway Run By Four Weeks

The upcoming Broadway reimagined revival of Romeo And Juliet starring Heartstopper‘s Kit Connor and West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler has extended its run by four weeks due to strong advance ticket sales.

Directed by Sam Gold and produced by Seaview, the revival, which features music by Grammy winner Jack Antonoff, begins previews at Circle in the Square Theatre on Thursday, September 26, and opens Thursday, October 24, and will now run through Sunday, February 16, 2025.

In announcing the extension, Seaview says the production broke the venue’s on-sale ticket day record when sales began in May. The extension is “due to astonishing advance demand.” Sales figures were not disclosed.

Hopeful ticket-buyers who have signed up on the show’s official website will have early access to tickets for the extension weeks beginning Wednesday, August 28. Tickets for the general public will be on sale beginning Thursday, August 29.

Billed as a Romeo And Juliet for “a new generation on the edge,” the production’s website notes: “The youth are f*cked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”

A trailer released a few months ago – watch it below – shows Connor and Zegler as the iconic young lovers in a modern-day setting. The cast and character roster suggests some heavy reimaging.

Connor stars as Romeo and Zegler as Juliet, and they’ll be joined by Gabby Beans as Mercutio/The Friar, Daniel Bravo Hernández as Abraham, Jasai Chase-Owens as Gregory, Tommy Dorfman as The Nurse/Tybalt, Nihar Duvvuri as Balthazar, Sola Fadiran as Capulet/Lady Capulet, Taheen Modak as Benvolio, and Gían Pérez as Samson/Paris/Peter. Many of the actors will be making their Broadway debuts.

The production will feature movement direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh (Moulin Rouge).
