Yahoo Lifestyle Robert De Niro Admits He Once Had a Late-Night Martini Ubered to Him From Nobu
People order delivery all the time, but one of Robert De Niro’s past orders is making headlines this week.
During testimony in a civil trial between the actor and one of his former executive assistants, De Niro defended having a Nobu Martini delivered to him via Uber at 11 p.m. one evening, Insider reported on Tuesday. The request was brought up in response to questions about when it was appropriate to use company cards to pay for Ubers.

“One time, you really wanted a particular Martini at Nobu, and you asked her to deliver it for you, yes?” Andrew Macurdy, a lawyer for the former assistant, Graham Chase Robinson, asked De Niro. “That would have been one time,” the actor replied. “That’s different.”
Robinson, who worked at Canal Productions for more than a decade, initially sued De Niro for creating a hostile workplace environment at his production company, Insider noted. Her allegations included that the actor gave her “work wife” tasks and engaged in “gratuitous unwanted physical contact.”
In response, De Niro countersued Robinson. He claims that she used company credit cards to pay for hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal expenses, such as Ubers and meals. His counterclaim also stated that she stole millions of Delta SkyMiles for personal use and “loafed during work hours, binge-watching astounding hours of TV shows on Netflix.”
At the trial on Tuesday, Macurdy defended Robinson’s spending, saying that Canal didn’t have formal policies about expenses. De Niro, meanwhile, said that he had trusted Robinson to use her own good judgement. “It was the honor system,” the actor said. “Do the right thing.”
The incident with Nobu, which De Niro co-owns, reflects the actor’s preference for Martinis, although it’s unclear exactly which “particular” one he ordered for his late-night delivery. Insider resurfaced an interview from last year in which De Niro said he liked a Hendrick’s gin Martini with just cucumber, no vermouth. But in 2015, he told Wine Enthusiast that if he was opting for a vodka Martini, he’d go with four ounces of vodka to one ounce of dry vermouth—stirred, strained twice, and garnished with a twist.
