Ringo Starr's Son Zak Starkey Cancels Concert Following Scary Medical Emergency
Mantra Of The Cosmos, one of the bands Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey plays the drums in, was forced to cancel a show last night, Jan. 21, in Soho, London, after the percussionist suffered a blood clot in one of his legs.
The notice reportedly came at the last minute for fans who were set to see the performance at the Karma Sanctum Soho, according to a press release sent to NME. Reportedly, doctors prescribed blood thinners and two weeks to treat the clot in his right leg.

As a result the concert was scrapped, though a party celebrating the band's new single went on as planned, per the publication.
In addition to Starkey (who also plays with The Who and Oasis), Mantra Of The Cosmos is made up of Happy Mondays and Black Grape's Shaun Ryder and Bez and Oasis' and Ride's Andy Bell.
Neither the band nor Starkey appears to have spoken out about his condition directly on social media, though the drummer did reshare concert clips on his Story on Tuesday.
A blood clot in the leg is typically referred to as a deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, according to the Mayo Clinic. While it doesn't always present with noticeable symptoms, it often results in leg pain and/or swelling.
If left untreated, smaller clots can break loose from a DVT and travel to the lungs, where they may cause a pulmonary embolism (PE), a potentially fatal condition that causes more severe symptoms like a sudden onset of difficulty breathing, chest pain, dizziness, coughing up blood and more.
It's unknown at this time what symptoms Starkey was experiencing that led to his diagnosis.
