A “very demure, very mindful” Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner won New Year’s Eve in 2024.

Ralph Fiennes, dropping by CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen special on Tuesday night, was cued to serve up his take on TikToker Joolie Lebron’s incredibly viral video from this past summer.

Lebron coined the “very demure, very mindful” phrase during a satirical take on being “modest and respectful at the workplace” when it comes to beauty/hair/makeup.

“Well look, this is how I do my makeup for work. Very demure. Very mindful,” Fiennes recites in the video above, putting an almost-Shakespearean spin on the instantly meme-able TikTok. “I don’t look like a clown, I don’t do too much. See how I look? Very presentable.

“The way I came to the interview is the way I go to the job,” he continued. “A lot of you girls go to the interview looking like Marge Simpson, looking like Patty and Selma. Not demure.”

Once Fiennes got to asking, “Here’s your reality check, diva: What’s the name you’d like me to make it out to?,” Cooper — already several shots into the evening — had to turn away, giggling.
