Yahoo Lifestyle Rachael Released a Statement on IG Following Her Breakup With Matt
It took some time, but Rachael Kirkconnell is *finally* ready to discuss her breakup with Matt James. A day after her explosive Call Her Daddy interview dropped on January 28, Rachael took to her Instagram Stories to thank fans for sticking by her through a tough time.
"Just wanted to say thank you for the love and support," she wrote in her statement. "Everything feels scary and discouraging right now but I believe everything happens how it is meant to and I know it will be okay."
She went on to add, "It’s a blessing to be able to feel things and let them hurt. Life is a messy and beautiful thing and I am thankful for all of the ups and downs it brings. Love you guys."
During her tell-all interview, Rachael confirmed to host Alex Cooper that Matt did, indeed, post that infamous breakup announcement only three hours after they split...while Rachael was stuck on a plane back to the U.S. from Tokyo without Wi-Fi.
"I’m freaking out because, you know, just got broken up with and now, a few hours later, it’s for the whole world to see and I’m still trying to process it," she explained. "I’m still in total shock, so then knowing, like, the whole world is seeing this. I’m like, 'This is so crazy. I can’t even wrap my mind around this right now.'"
And as far as the rumors go that Matt hooked up with someone else, Rachael firmly said that "he's not a cheater" and that Matt was faithful throughout their relationship. The real reason they broke up: It seems the former Bachelor wasn't quite ready to commit.
"He just didn't want me to end up resenting him by wasting more of my time if it wouldn't happen," Rachael added during the interview. "He just said, 'You're beautiful, smart, and funny, and you'll find someone. You'll find a guy that will love you for you.' But he just didn't think that it was him."
No word from Matt yet since he posted that breakup announcement back on January 16, so stay tuned for updates.
