Why is this a good deal? 💰

We recommend buying these hiking boots even when they're full price (they're that good), but at up to 42% off, the prospect of a pain-free walk in the woods is getting that much sweeter. This is the lowest price we've seen all year. (Remember that sale prices vary depending on the color and size you choose.)

Why do I need these? 🤔

Popular with editors, experts and shoppers alike, Merrell's Moab 3 Hiking Shoes are famous for their out-of-the-box comfort. The Amazon bestsellers are super supportive and extra cushioned to keep your feet happy all day long. The webbing along the tongue keeps debris from entering your shoe — no more rogue sticks and rocks — while the protective toe cap keeps your feet safe. These boots also boast a Vibram TC5+ rubber sole that provides excellent traction, a molded arch shank and a shock-absorbing heel for added support.

Executive Editor Nicole Sforza has been wearing Merrells since college and listed these as her favorite pair. She even wears them off the trails when she needs a little extra support. "I once had a bad foot issue and had to wear supportive hiking boots (even when not hiking!) and the doc recommended these," she says. The only con? "They're not the most fashionable things in the world." Cris Hazzard of HikingGuy.com also counts these Merrells as a fave because "they're tough, grippy and very comfortable," he says.

What reviewers say 💬

Between the men's and women's styles, close to 7,000 Amazon shoppers are five-star fans of these hiking boots and say they're comfortable enough to walk in for miles.

Pros 👍

"I hike a lot and usually just [wear] athletic shoes. I got this pair for a trip to Joshua Tree and the surrounding rocky areas. They fit perfectly, are very grippy and my feet felt fine after a 12-mile hike with [5,000 feet] of elevation gain," raved one.

Another reviewer wrote, "I waited until I had a few hikes in these shoes before writing this review. So far I've done four hikes total of 17 miles around Colorado Springs. These are quality hiking shoes that feel lightweight but also very sturdy. The soles have a really good grippy tread that works well on all terrain and feels really stable. They also provide a good amount of cushion, and the toe box is nice and roomy."

A third fan said they like the supportive kicks so much they wear them off the trails too. "I love these shoes because they give my feet the support they need. I've had foot issues all of my adult life and I need extra support, so in addition to using these for hiking, I use them for my daily walks, and they make it so much better."

Cons 👎

While most reviewers found these boots true to size, a few said they had to go up either a half size or a full size. (Check the size chart before buying, especially if you plan to wear them with thick socks or padded insoles.) "I wear a size 9 almost universally across the board in most athletic shoes. According to Merrell, I am also a size 9. But in these, I ordered a 10 and feel that was the right choice. They fit perfectly with regular and/or thick socks," said one buyer.

"I really enjoy these shoes, they are lightweight and offer great support. I had read the other reviews before purchasing them, and many of those reviews suggested going a half-size larger. But I decided to order them in my shoe size of 7 1/2 and I ended up exchanging them for a size 8. So be advised," wrote another.

"The first hike in these boots was in rainy weather," said a newfound fan. "The trail had water running through, wet rocks and tree roots everywhere. You would expect some amount of slipping in these conditions, but not with these boots."
