Queen Letizia of Spain Takes on Menswear in Pinstripe Power Suit With Knotted Tie During Royal Engagement in Madrid

Queen Letizia of Spain put a menswear spin on her latest power suiting moment on Tuesday in Madrid. The Spanish royal was among the distinguished guests who attended an event for World Rare Disease Day.

For the occasion, Queen Letizia styled a pinstripe suit with menswear touches. The Spanish royal’s suit consisted of wide-leg trousers with a dark base fabric and muted white lines. Queen Letizia’s double-breasted blazer coordinated with the trousers, and featured pockets stacked one on top of the other and a sharp lapel.

Queen Letizia’s suited look continued with a menswear spin thanks to her white dress shirt and black knotted tie, creating a distinct take on both menswear and suited styling.

When it came to her accessories, Queen Letizia kept it simple, styling a pair of stud earrings that didn’t draw attention away from the Spanish royal’s sartorial look. As for her glam, Queen Letizia’s hair was styled with soft curls that cascaded past her shoulders, and her makeup featured bold brows, a smokey eye and a glossy lip.

Queen Letizia recently put different twists on her power suiting style. She rewore a three-piece Mango suit while attending a board meeting for the FAD Youth Foundation (Foundation Against Drug Addiction) organization. She previously wore the suit for an event in November 2024.

Along with Mango suited looks, Queen Letizia also wore a tailored design courtesy of Bleis Madrid. While attending the 50th anniversary celebrations for the National Hospital of Paraplegics on Feb. 12, Queen Letizia styled a burgundy suit by the aforementioned Spanish design house.

For royal women, power suiting was largely popularized and made ubiquitous thanks to the likes of the late Princess Diana, a trailblazer when it came to contemporary royal style. Modern royal women like Kate Middleton and Queen Letizia continue to add their variations on the trend, whether with menswear embellishments or idiosyncratic approaches.
