The Queen is all smiles as she steps out with Prince Andrew post-Megxit
Just one day after the royal family announced the bombshell news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer be acting as working members of the royal family, the Queen has proved it’s business as usual for her and the rest of the Firm.
The 93-year-old attended St Mary the Virgin church near Sandringham on Sunday and greeted the congregation with a massive smile, despite the tumultuous few days she’s endured trying to deal with the fallout from the Megxit mess.
While the Sussexes were nowhere to be seen, the Queen was joined at the church by her son, Prince Andrew, who was forced to step back from royal duties late last year following a BBC interview where he tried to justify his close friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The move is being seen by royal fans as the Queen showing her support for her second born son, who still holds a His Royal Highness title.
Yesterday, the Queen released a statement claiming she is “pleased” to have found a “constructive and supportive way forward” in dealing with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s request to step away as senior members of the royal family.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” the monarch said.
“I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.
“I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family.
“It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”
In an official statement released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of the whole royal family, the message was that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “grateful” to the Queen for her support of their desire to split their time between Canada and the UK.
“As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties,” the statement read.
“With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.”
In news that shocked their fas, it was revealed that the duo will no longer use their HRH titles as they won’t be working members of the royal family.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home,” the statement continued.
“Buckingham Palace does not comment on the details of security arrangements. There are well established independent processes to determine the need for publicly-funded security.”
It finished by revealing that the changes will come into effect in spring 2020, meaning the Sussexes still have three months of royal duties to undertake before their officially hang up their boots.
