Princess Peach: Showtime! Demo Available Now

Princess Peach Showtime Detective Peach

The Nintendo Switch is certainly slowing down in its old age, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo doesn’t have a few tricks up its sleeve yet. One of those tricks is a unique game focused on the Mushroom Kingdom’s leading lady, Princess Peach in a theater-inspired adventure called Princess Peach: Showtime! It’s not out for a couple of weeks, but you can play a bit of it right now.

Nintendo has released a demo for Princess Peach: Showtime!, showing off a couple of the outfits Peach will be able to utilize in the full game. Those outfits are Swordfighter Peach, which lets the princess turn into a swashbuckling fencer, and Patissier Peach, which lets her… decorate a cake. It’s weird, sure, but it’s fun, even if the demo is a little bit on the short side.

We’ve learned a few interesting things about the game too, mostly by way of dataminers. For example, we know that it was made in Unreal Engine 4, and seemingly the most recent version of UE4 — not surprising, given Nintendo’s work in the engine of late on games like Pikmin 4. It also seems like the game was developed by Good-Feel, the developer behind Yoshi’s Woolly World, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and the best Kirby Game, Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

It comes as the Switch sneaks up on the end of its life on the market. Nintendo only has a couple of first-party games announced – one of which is a remaster and the other a remake – and third-party support is drying up rapidly. That said, the recent Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase did feature a number of interesting games from third parties, including a remake of Epic Mickey.

In the meantime, Princess Peach: Showtime! is almost here, with the game set to be released later this month on March 22, 2024. You can play the demo right now, although we’ve seen some issues with the eShop not showing the download demo button for everyone. If you restart your Switch it should help fix it.
