Princess Eugenie announces pregnancy with second child: 'So excited'

Princess Eugenie has announced that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank are expecting their second child together.

The 32-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who is 11th in line to the throne, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news.

She posted an adorable snap captured by Jack of their almost two-year-old son August kissing her stomach.

“We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” she wrote in the caption.

Buckingham Palace also released a statement, reading: “Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer.

“The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.”

Sarah Ferguson has since reacted to her daughter’s baby news, posting a photo on Instagram of August in a yellow raincoat playing in the rain.

“You will be sharing puddles, Augie!” she captioned the snap. “Superb news, Granny heaven… So deeply grateful.”

Eugenie and Jack’s second child will be 13th in the line of succession, as well as Queen Elizabeth’s first great-grandchild born after her passing.

Eugenie and Jack’s relationship timeline

Eugenie and brand ambassador Jack first met in 2010 after being introduced by friends during a ski trip in Switzerland. The couple got engaged in 2018 during a holiday in Nicaragua and tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor the same year.

In February 2021 she gave birth to their first child August Philip Hawke Brooksbank at Portland Hospital in London and announced the news on Instagram.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages,” Eugenie wrote. “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.”

The couple currently sublet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Frogmore Cottage and also spend time in Portugal where Jack works.

Meanwhile, Eugenie’s older sister Beatrice has one child, a daughter named Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
