Princess Beatrice Praises 'Resilient' Mom Sarah Ferguson in Health Update

Princess Beatrice and her mom, Sarah Ferguson.

Princess Beatrice is offering insight into Sarah Ferguson's health following her recent battle with skin cancer after being treated for breast cancer.

The 35-year-old shared the uplifting update about her mom during her first live TV interview on Monday's (May 6) episode of This Morning. She appeared on the talk show to promote her charity, Outward Bound, but the conversation soon turned inward as the hosts inquired about the British author and TV personality.

"She's such a phenomenal icon. As a mum she's been amazing, she's been through so much and her sense of purpose and resilience really keeps me going," Beatrice told hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle, as transcribed by Hello! magazine.

"She's doing really well. She's had a bumpy health scare last year but all clear now. At 64, she's thriving; she's been through so much, but I think really now she's coming into her own," Beatrice said of the Duchess of York's June 2023 breast cancer diagnosis and January 2024 battle with malignant melanoma.

Though the experience was undoubtedly frightening for the entire family, the princess said it is an important reminder to stay on top of your health.

"We're just reminded when any parent or individual has a health scenario, just really get the checks that you need to get as early as you possibly can," she explained. "Both my sister [Princess Eugenie] and I are so proud of her for taking those steps to get those checks and it really modeled our health considerations on that."

"We’re really lucky in the UK to make sure you can get those checks as best as you can and hopefully, we can be there to support each other when anyone goes through a health scare."

"There's nothing more important than family," Beatrice concluded.
