The Express reports the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has “no objections, clearing the way for a royal wedding at Westminster Abbey or another Anglican venue in 2018”.
As engagement talk grows louder for the couple, who have been dating since 2016, having a church wedding could have been an issue for Meghan, who divorced her husband Trevor Engelson in 2013.
While the Archbishop had no comment when asked if he had been in discussions with the royals, the Queen has reportedly already giving her grandson permission to marry the Suits star.
“Harry has got approval from the Queen to propose to Meghan, he’s already had those conversations with Her Majesty,” a source told Star magazine earlier this year.
The pair have come a long way in a short time, swapping clandestine meetings at Kensington Palace for PDA-packed displays at the Invictus Games in September.
And it seems Harry and Meghan aren’t holding back when it comes to moving their romance along.
The Suits star was spotted shopping in London this week amid reports she’s moving in with Harry in London.
With Meghan’s current season of Suits said to be her last, royal watchers say she’s quietly packing up her life in Toronto.
“[Meghan] will live with Harry at his two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where staff already know her,” a source tells People.
“Harry has been making subtle changes at home in order to make it more girlfriend-friendly.”
