President Biden Jokingly Turns White House Podium Over to Travis Kelce During Chiefs Visit: ‘God Only Knows What He’d Say’

President Joe Biden speaks with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce

For a second consecutive year, the Kansas City Chiefs visited the White House in honor of becoming Super Bowl champs. President Joe Biden recognized the NFL team for winning Super Bowl LVIII in February—and the POTUS even mentioned the viral moment tight end Travis Kelce had at the 2023 event.

On Friday, May 21, Biden addressed the back-to-back Super Bowl champs during an outdoor ceremony. Before handing over the podium to Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, the POTUS made a playful jab at Kelce.

"Now I'm going to turn it over to the Chiefs," Biden said. "But you know, I'd have Travis come up here, but God only knows what he'd say. Travis, come here. It's all yours, pal."

To that, the 34-year-old walked over and stated, "My fellow Americans... It's nice to see you all yet again."

Kelce added: "I'm not gonna lie, President Biden, they told me if I came up here, I'd get tased. So I'mma go back to my spot, all right?"

In 2023, Kelce notoriously distracted Biden and then approached the podium at the same White House event. "So I've been waiting for this moment..." the tight end began before Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes rushed over to usher him away from the microphone.

The incident quickly went viral on social media. Not long afterward, Travis and his brother, Jason Kelcediscussed it on their podcast, New Heights. The younger brother revealed that all he intended to say was, "My fellow Americans"—a dream that has now been realized.

Another TikTok user commented, "He seemed so nervous hahaha."

Meanwhile, someone else wrote, "Perfectly said!! He said if got the chance again he would say that !! @New Heights."
