Isaac BlackhorseGarciaA California man is in custody after allegedly running over a 16-year-old pregnant girl after she reportedly confronted him about his relationship with her underage sister.
Isaac Blackhorse Garcia was arrested after the incident late evening on Feb. 2 in Riverside, Ca., the Riverside Police Department said in a statement last week.
The victim, who is not being named by authorities, was gravely injured and taken to a hospital, where she died, police said. Authorities did not provide any identifying information about her but KTLA reported she was 16-years-old.
Her baby was delivered by medical personnel but was in critical condition, per police.
Investigators allege Blackhorse Garcia was in a “sexual relationship” with the victim’s teenage sister and was dropping her off at home on the night of the incident.
When the young girl’s family “approached” his car, he allegedly “sped away” and struck the victim with his vehicle, police said.
In video footage from a neighbor’s security camera obtained by ABC 7, family members of the victim are heard screaming and shrieking as they run towards what appears to be the scene; in another security camera footage, the car is heard screeching as it speeds away in the neighborhood.
In a GoFundMe set up to honor the deceased teenager, she is being remembered by her family as “a radiant light in our lives.”
“She was eagerly looking forward to becoming a mother and meeting her baby,” read a part of the fundraiser. “She had so many dreams, so many moments ahead of her, and in the blink of an eye, all of that was stolen.”
