An adult film star has opened up about ditching her strict Mormon faith after feeling she was losing her identity.

Addie Andrews, from Florida, was recently named Penthouse magazine’s ‘Pet of the Month’, a stark contrast from where she was a mere two years ago.

Speaking to the New York Post the 30-year-old porn star revealed how she grew up in a small town in the Pacific Northwest with “little freedom” and was required by her parents to be religious.

She was however, able to choose her own church, so when she turned 17 she went to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

But while she said the church took her in and was “so welcoming”, she eventually realised the deeper she got into the religion the “farther from my own identity I got”.

The model had only had sex once before joining the church, but then abstained for the next nine years, explaining premarital sex was a “very serious sin” and a “shameful thing to do” in the eyes of the church.

“I was very sexually repressed!” she told the Post. “You’re essentially a nun, devoted to your religion for that period of time.”

But when she wasn’t allowed to be her sister’s bridesmaid because the church claimed the dress was “immodest”, it made Addie reconsider her Mormon faith.

So in 2017 she stopped going to church, and the following year moved to California.

Despite having a bachelor’s Addie initially struggled to get work as even a waitress, while she pursued an acting career. So that’s when she turned to exotic dancing - revealing she was also getting contacted by porn agents.

Fast forward another year and her name has risen in the porn industry, and she now boasts 70,000 followers online.

And while her career now is a far cry from where she was, Addie says her family have been open-minded.

“My brother said, ‘I will definitely never watch your porn, but you seem happier than ever, so I support your decision.'”
