Pop-Tarts Is Bringing Back a Retired Fan-Favorite Flavor
But there's a catch: we still don't know which one it is yet.
The week before New Year’s Eve can be a strange limbo of sorts. Some of us are busy sprinting across town returning or exchanging gifts or figuring out a new way to cook leftovers. Others work on finalizing their resolutions for a healthier year. Many people watch college football playoffs with a platter of buffalo wings and dips with friends and family. If you're one of those people, you may want to consider adding Pop-Tarts to your grazing board.
Last year, everyone’s favorite toaster pastry brand introduced the Frosted Strawberry Edible Mascot to keep fans energized during the college football bowl games. In the end, when Kansas State was declared the winner, the anthropomorphized pastry slid through a giant toaster and came out on the other side as an edible snack for the winning team to eat.
The Edible Mascot fun is returning and this time there isn’t just one huge Pop-Tart for the winning team to share—there are three.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl Returns
When the Pop-Tarts Bowl kicks off on Dec. 28 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, fans will be treated once again to three Pop-Tarts mascots. Unfortunately, Strawberry will not be one of them since it met its delicious demise at last year’s game. Three new flavors have stepped up to entertain the crowd and make the ultimate toaster pastry sacrifice.
Frosted Wild Berry: The one with the purple frosting and teal swirl.
Frosted Hot Fudge Sundae: The one with fudge icing swirl and colorful sprinkles.
A Mystery Flavor: We don’t know what this one will look like but it will be a previously discontinued fan fave that’s coming back to shelves.
Fans can submit their guesses for which flavor will be returning at the Pop-Tarts Bowl website, though they can only choose from these varieties: Peanut Butter, Vanilla Milkshake, Blue Raspberry, Cinnamon Roll, Red Velvet Cupcake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Grape.
These choices lead us to believe that the mystery flavor will be one of them, but who knows, Pop-Tarts could be diverting attention away from the real returning flavor. There are so many retired flavors that fans are begging for a revival at this point.
In a twist, not all three flavors will meet their demise when the game is done. The winning MVP gets to pick the flavor his team will get to chow down on.
If you’re dying to know which flavor sacrifices itself to a winning football team, watch the game on Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
