'I've never prayed more in my life': Pink opens up about coronavirus battle

Pink shared more details of her “scary” battle with coronavirus, less than two weeks after announcing she tested positive.

In a new Instagram Live interview with author and yoga instructor Jen Pastiloff, Pink revealed just how frightened she became when she fell ill.

The 40-year-old had already been self-isolating with her two children and husband Carey Hart when both she and her son began experiencing symptoms.

“We have been really, really sick. My three-year-old, Jameson, has had the worst of it. I've had many nights where I've cried and I've never prayed more in my life," she told Pastiloff.

“At one point I heard myself saying, 'I thought they promised us our kids would be OK.' And it's not guaranteed. There's no one that is safe from this. Jameson's been really, really sick.”

The ‘What About Us’ singer kept track of her son’s symptoms, and said that he was still showing signs of a fever three weeks later.

“It's been a different roller coaster for both of us,” Pink said, adding that her son’s symptoms were mostly fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and fatigue. “All the things that scare the bejeezus out of you as a mama.”

The star’s own symptoms included chills, fatigue and nausea, before progressing to respiratory issues fuelled by her asthma. She said that things became so bad, she was forced to use a nebulizer to help her breathe for “the first time in 30 years”.

“It got really, really scary, I'm not gonna lie,” she said. “Just when you think you're better, something else happens.”

On April 3, the Grammy-winner shared with fans on social media that she tested positive for COVID-19 and was on the mend.

Although she was able to have access to a test through her primary care physician, Pink expressed her outrage that millions of people were unable to do so.

“It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible,” she wrote on Instagram.

“This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities.”

Pink has donated a total of $1 million to coronavirus relief efforts, which includes a $500,000 donation to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia where her mother worked for 18 years.

“Thank you to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones,” she added. “You are our heroes!”
