A Penthouse on Taylor Swift’s Former Block in N.Y.C.’s West Village Just Listed for $8 Million
Cornelia Street in New York’s West Village may not be as famous as Fifth Avenue or Broadway, but thanks to Taylor Swift, the slender, tree-lined street has been immortalized in music history. Now, a terraced penthouse that caps an iconic building just down from the pop star’s former townhouse, which inspired her 2019 track Cornelia Street, is up for grabs.
On the market for the first time ever, the duplex aerie at 2 Cornelia Street is listed for $8 million with Abigail Palanca and Courtney Mendez of Serhant. The pre-war building that looms over Sixth Avenue between West 4th Street and Bleecker Street was originally built in 1929 and converted into a luxury residential building in 1981. Altogether, the triangular-shaped structure holds 43 uniquely laid out units across 12 floors, with the crown jewel being the four-bedroom, three-bath unit known as Penthouse A.

Like the building itself, the penthouse has an unusual triangular corner layout that features an impressive open living and dining area where you’ll find warm hardwood floors and oversized windows filled with city views. Nearby, the stylishly udpated chef’s kitchen is equipped with striking marble slab countertops, a large eat-in peninsula, plus a shiny stainless steel tile backsplash behind the range. Elsewhere, a king-size primary bedroom is decked out with a roomy walk-in dressing room and an ensuite bath, the latter with a marble vanity, a soaking tub, and a dual walk-in rainfall shower. Three additional guest rooms round out this level.
Upstairs, a sunroom with its own windowed bath could easily be turned into a home office, den, or playroom for kids. From here, you can access the landscaped rooftop terrace, complete with stone pavers, lots of planters brimming with lush greenery, and “panoramic views that stretch from the Empire State Building in Midtown to 1 WTC in Lower Manhattan,” according to the listing. Come spring and summer, there’s plenty of space for outdoor dining and entertaining.
While T-Swift may have only lived in the West Village temporarily (she’s since moved on to a sprawling penthouse in Tribeca), the neighborhood has been a popular stomping ground for musicians, actors, and entertainment industry A-listers. Late-night talk show host Andy Cohen recently put his three-bedroom co-op on the market, and if you’re a Bravoholic, Cohen’s digs include a second-floor office, which he dubbed “the Clubhouse” after his Watch What Happens Live studio. The former home of award-winner Kiefer Sutherland also popped up for sale earlier this month, and in August, Clare Danes and Hugh Dancy listed their longtime townhouse.
