Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega Tangle with an Angry Unicorn in “Death of a Unicorn” Trailer
A24's 'Death of a Unicorn,' which also stars Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni and Will Poulter, releases in spring 2025
Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega are teaming up for a strange tale.
A24 has released the trailer for its upcoming comedy-horror Death of a Unicorn, which stars Rudd, 55, and Ortega, 22, as a father-daughter pair who accidentally run over the titular mythical creature on the highway while driving to visit a group that includes Will Poulter, Téa Leoni and Richard E. Grant.
"A father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties," reads A24's official synopsis.
Death of a Unicorn marks a directorial debut for filmmaker Alex Scharfman, a producer who has otherwise worked on movies like House of Spoils, Resurrection and Blow the Man Down. Scharfman wrote the movie's script in addition to directing the film.

For Rudd, Death of a Unicorn is his first movie set to release in 2025. In 2024, he appeared in the Ghostbusters movie Frozen Empire and also starred in the surreal comedy Friendship alongside Tim Robinson, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Ortega most recently appeared on the big screen in this year's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice; she also costarred alongside Martin Freeman in the movie Miller's Girl at the top of 2024. Aside from Death of a Unicorn, the actress is also returning to Netflix in 2025 for the second season of her show Wednesday.
Death of a Unicorn does not yet have a release date.
