New 'Paper Trail' Video Game Will Task Players With Origami-Inspired Puzzles

UK developer Newfangled Games has announced an all-new adventure game, titled Paper Trail. The origami-inspired title will task players with solving craft-inspired puzzles, upon launching May 21.

“Alter the fabric of your world, contorting, spinning, rotating, twisting around — as you try to untangle the puzzle of the Paper Trail,” states the title’s Steam description. The developer designed the game to allow players to "fold and tear" through a "diverse, populated paper world." In a flat-styled word, users will need to drag objects, shine lights and push boulders through folded paths in order to unlock new opportunities.

The game's protagonist is an 18-year-old girl named Paige, who strives to become an astrophysics student at her village's university. "To the mixed reaction from her family, she sets off on an epic journey to start her first semester, mastering her powers along the way," Newfangled states. "During her journey, you will meet many characters with interesting stories of their own, who also help open up new paths."

Paper Trail will launch on consoles, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Switch, as well as PC and the Netflix mobile app on May 21. Watch the trailer for the game in the gallery above, and sign up for the newsletter on the title's website.
