Yahoo Lifestyle Outlander Wraps Filming on Final Season: The Starz Series’ Cast and EPs Mark the End of a Verra Plaid Era

Outlander wrapped filming on its final season Friday, a bittersweet occasion the cast and executive producers marked with photos posted to the show’s Instagram account.

“Today marks the final day of filming on the final season of #Outlander,” reads a caption on the series’ official account. “Words cannot express the gratitude owed to each and every hard-working cast and crew member who brought this incredible series to life and every single fan who supports it with passion, creativity, and dedication. Outlander really is more than just a show, it’s a family, and while filming might be ending, there’s so much more to this journey that’s just beginning.”
The post’s lead image, naturally, is of Himself and Herself themselves: Series leads Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, AKA Jamie and Claire Fraser. They’re followed in sequence by Sophie Skelton (Brianna), Richard Rankin (Roger), David Berry (Lord John), John Bell (Young Ian), Charles Vandervaart (William), Izzy Meikle-Small (Rachel), Lauren Lyle (Marsali) and Cesar Domboy (Fergus), Diarmaid Murtagh (Buck) and executive producers Matthew B. Roberts and Maril Davis. The photos finish with solo shots of Heughan and Balfe.
(You’ll notice that, on the clapboards everyone is holding, they’ve mentioned what they’ll take from the set/experience now that it’s over.)
Heughan also shared his own memories of his time with the show, starting with a shot taken during Jamie’s VERY BAD DAYS at the end of Season 1.
“Dinnae fash Sassenachs, plenty more to look forward to….,” Heughan wrote.
Indeed: There’s plenty more Outlander to air. The back half of Season 7 will premiere on Friday, Nov. 22, at 8/7c. No date has been set yet for Season 8’s debut.
