‘Outer Banks’ Season 4 Trailer Has Our Pogues Desperate for More Gold
Pogues 4 Life isn't just a saying—it's also a reality! That's right, Outer Banks isn't going away anytime soon. Season 3 hadn't even premiered yet and Netflix decided to renew the show for a fourth season, which means it's time to party like we found El Dorado ourselves. Our favorite series is coming back and we couldn't be happier! Of course, this is making us wonder what exactly our favorite Pogues will be up to. And if the season 3 finale is any indicator, things are just getting started for these misfits. Will they be hunting for treasure? Or will something else keep them on the island a little bit longer?
Here's everything you need to know about Outer Banks season 4.
Is Outer Banks season 4 actually happening?
Netflix dropped a big surprise at its Poguelandia festival in February as the cast got together to announce that the show will be coming back for its fourth season. Of course, everyone freaked out over the news! The festival happened the weekend before season 3 launched, so fans got to go into this new season a little more relaxed knowing it will return. Basically, we're living in paradise.

So what is season 4 going to be about?
That's a very good question! There are two big things the show can do for its fourth installment. The first is show us what happened in that 18-month time jump and how the Pogues went from the OBX's most wanted to the biggest names on the island. And there's also the brand new treasure hunt that has all to do with Blackbeard, the famous pirate captain that definitely had some special treasure on his ship that is still up for grabs.
The show's creators haven't made any additional announcements, but they *did* reveal to Entertainment Weekly that they plan on the show continuing as long as it can.
"I don't know if I could put a real number on it right now—how long it takes to get to that ending might expand, but we now know the shape of the end of the story," co-creator Josh Pate said. "We're going to take it as long as we can, for sure."
That is...until we got the season's official trailer which shows our pogues living the good life until they run out of all the gold they found. Now they have to go hunting for some more treasure in the hopes that the payout can help them pay out this new debt that they have found themselves in.
Who is going to be in season 4?
As of right now, Netflix hasn't revealed any additional details about who we'll see return. However, Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Carlacia Grant (Cleo), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), and Drew Starkey (Rafe) were all on stage at Poguelandia to reveal the big news. Soooo, it's definitely safe to say they're all likely to come back for more!
Oh, and filming has apparently already wrapped! At the 2023 TUDUM Event, Netflix unveiled the first look at our favorite pogues as they got ready for some more treasure hunting and a wild new adventure! Check it out below:
Fast-forward to June 20, 2024, however, and the show's official Instagram announced that filming had officially wrapped!
In the vid, the cast tells the camera, "Hey everybody, we just wrapped season 4. We did it! We are super stoked about this season. We hope you love it. See you soon." Oh, and during another moment, Chase Stokes says, "Alright guys, we have officially wrapped season 4 of Outer Banks. It has been a crazy, crazy journey. But it's done."
When will season 4 of Outer Banks be released?
Netflix released a new trailer for the season on August 29 which shows our favorite pogues living it up back in the OBX. But as we already know, just finding the gold is the beginning of the story. Not only did it give us a sneak peek of what to expect, but it also revealed that the season will be split into two parts with part 1 being released on October 10 and part 2 dropping on November 7.
