“OutDaughtered”: Adam Busby Hits a Low After Slicing His Finger Open and Blayke, 12, Suffers Panic Attack (Exclusive)
In PEOPLE's exclusive look at the upcoming episode of the TLC series, the chaos is piling up for the Busbys as they juggle their six daughters and work commitments, but Danielle feels like she's "being a bad mom"
There's always a million and one things happening in the Busby household.
In PEOPLE's exclusive clip from the May 21 episode of OutDaughtered, Adam and Danielle Busby are both out of town for work on the girls' second day of school, and the chaos is starting to overwhelm them.
As Adam, 41, prepares for a photo shoot, he accidentally slices his finger "really deep" on a knife in his backpack, but feels like he can't hold up the shoot any longer by getting the injury properly cared for.
"It was just such a freak accident. I had a pocket knife in my bag and then just wasn't paying attention," he says in a confessional. "Just slid my hand in to get my keys and slid my finger straight down the blade of this knife."
Inside the studio, the shoot's creative director, Aaron, announces they're already 30 minutes behind schedule, "so we need to find a way to make up [time]."
While Adam's finger continues gushing blood outside, he opts not to seek treatment and admits he feels "like an idiot."
"I mean, there's a ton of blood, but, you know, I'm not going to leave right now to go to the ER to get this fixed, because I can't hold up this shoot anymore. All I'm thinking of is — I'll take care of it later," he says.
As Adam is dealing with the cut, which he has wrapped up to stop the bleeding in the meantime, Danielle, 40, calls, and shares that their 12-year-old daughter, Blayke, just had a panic attack at school.
"You know Blayke had volleyball tryouts and stuff and she’s calling me, worked up and anxious, and I think she’s having, like, a panic attack or something," Danielle, who is also away for work, tells her husband.
"She says she's just feeling really weird, 'I can't feel my body.' And I'm like, well, you need to go to the nurse right now. And I said get some water, sit down. And now she’s nervous that it’s gonna happen again," Danielle says, adding, "I just don’t like how I can’t fix it."
"These are the moments that are tough," Adam reminds her as Danielle says she feels like she's "being a bad mom because I can't be there."
"I get it. Don’t beat yourself up," he says, trying to comfort her.
In a confessional, Adam reacts to the news as he faces the tough reality of the situation.
"You want to make it better. But Danielle's four hours away. I'm an hour and a half away and can't leave," he says. "Seems like we're always getting pulled in too many directions."
