Ousted ABC News meteorologist Rob Marciano reportedly fired after ‘screaming match’
NEW YORK — Ousted ABC News weatherman Rob Marciano was reportedly fired for getting into a “heated screaming match” with a “Good Morning America” producer.
Marciano, a veteran meteorologist who provided weather updates on both “GMA” and “World News Tonight,” was let go earlier this week after nearly a decade with the network.
While ABC News didn’t comment on the reason for his firing, several outlets reported that his abrupt departure was linked to alleged inappropriate behavior on the set, which sparked complaints by “multiple staffers.”
Those incidents even led to Marciano being temporarily banned in 2022 from the main “GMA” set in New York City, according to Puck, an online news site that covers “power, money and ego.”
But on Wednesday, The Daily Beast reported that what ultimately ended Marciano’s career at ABC News was a recent loud argument with the unnamed “GMA” producer.
Two sources familiar with the situation told the outlet that the recent outburst was “the final straw” that led to his undoing.
Ginger Zee, the chief meteorologist for ABC News, reportedly heard about the incident and reported Marciano to their bosses. Network officials then decided to let him go, since that hadn’t been the first complaint they’d received.
Sources also told The Daily Beast that the issues with Marciano included not just his temper, but his tendency to “overshare” information with female colleagues regarding his divorce, leading to an uncomfortable workplace.
Marciano’s ex-wife, Eryn Marciano, filed for divorce in 2021.
“The last couple of years have been very difficult,” the 55-year-old meteorologist told People in June 2022.
