Oppenheimer led the charge throughout the awards season.
When the nominations were announced for the 2024 Academy Awards, many cinema fans were left outraged over several snubs, including Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Saltburn. But thankfully, it seems as though audiences agreed with the nominations for Best Picture.
Here are the nominees:
Best Picture Nominations
American Fiction
Anatomy of a Fall
Barbie
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
Oppenheimer

Oscars 2024 Best Picture winner
Oppenheimer managed to snag itself 13 Oscar nominations, the most of any film, and was the winner of several Best Picture awards throughout the campaign to the Oscars.
It won the BAFTA for Best Film, the Critics Choice for Best Picture, and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Drama, to name just a few huge wins.
So it comes as little surprise to see Oppenheimer taking out the award, with producer Emma Thomas saying all filmmakers "dream about this moment", but never believed it would actually happen.
Director Christopher Nolan also won Best Director for his work on the film, with Cillian Murphy also winning Best Actor.
Yahoo Lifestyle's predictions
Before watching the Oscars, here were our predictions for who would take out the top award:
Marni - While I was disappointed to see Saltburn missed out on any nominations (which is criminal in my opinion), I absolutely loved Poor Things, so I would love to see that take out Best Picture, though Oppenheimer will probably win.
Lachlan - While Oppenheimer has been sweeping the awards season so far (and will most likely take out Best Picture), I’d love to see the three-and-a-half-hour thriller Killers of The Flower Moon or hilariously inappropriate dramedy Poor Things win the award.
Lyndsey - Best Movie? I guess Oppenheimer, I don't know, I haven't seen it, but heard it was toight!
Who will win the 2025 Oscar for Best Picture?
As for next year? It might be a long way away, but fans already say Dune: Part Two will sweep the awards show!
