Oreo Is Introducing New Oreo Puffs Cereal — Replacing Another Beloved Item on Shelves

Oreo is launching a new cereal, while saying goodbye to its longtime breakfast option for fans of the iconic cookie.

The brand has officially announced Oreo Puffs — a new spin on Oreo cereal featuring crunchy and chocolatey puffs with some mini marshmallows in the mix.

The cereal will be made with real Oreo cookie wafers, and will be arriving nationwide to stores including Walmart and Target with a price point of $4.99, the company revealed in a news release.

With a new Oreo product hitting the cereal aisle, Oreo Puffs will be replacing the brand's signature cereal Oreo O's — which were first introduced in 1997, discontinued a decade later and brought back globally in 2017.

“For those who love dunking their Oreo cookies in milk, Oreo Puffs cereal is a brand new, delicious way to enjoy the taste of the iconic Oreo cookie — during breakfast time!” TD Dixon, Chief Growth Officer at Post Consumer Brands, told Food Network in a statement.

“A mouthwatering combination made with real Oreo cookie wafers and marshmallows, Oreo Puffs is a permanent addition to store shelves that will replace Oreo O’s in the cereal aisle. As for Oreo O’s cereal, who knows what the future will hold!”

While Oreo Puffs are set to offer shoppers a proper cereal puff experience, their predecessor was known for its O-shaped bites. Those who grew up in the early '00s may also recall early advertising campaigns for Oreo O's, which featured dancing, sunglasses-wearing marshmallows known as the "Créme Team."

In recent years, the cereal saw new limited-edition flavors like Mint Chip, as well as other variants including the Mega Stuf Oreo O's.

It's been a big year for Oreo, which has rolled out multiple new products in recent months — from a team-up with Coca-Cola to a dual-layered holiday cookie with red and green creme filling.

After announcing the Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar soda and Oreo Coca-Cola cookies in August, Oreo revealed last month that it was unleashing its new limited-time holiday cookies with five festive designs.

The treat — featuring holiday-themed embossments like a candy cane, gingerbread man, penguin, snowman and a red-nosed Rudolph — will be available at Target and Walmart.

Other recent limited-edition Oreo products include the Mint Chip Oreos,  Dirt Cake Oreos and Sour Patch Kids Oreo.
