Orange Cat Who Rocks Plastic ‘Helmet’ Has People Wondering If It’s for Style or Safety
Cats always know how to express themselves. While some like to chatter away about their feelings, others share their happy emotions with an epic case of zoomies. Many bring their humans unusual gifts to show gratitude, and others give us bites of love.
In this orange cat’s case, her fashion statement makes it hard to tell if she’s getting ready for the runway or the football field. But whatever she's trying to communicate with her selected attire, it's downright hilarious.

Madeline indeed exhibits that well-known Orange Cat behavior. Her mom, Megan (@moxtheboat), explains that they do not put this plastic beer can wrap on her. Instead, she seeks them out and puts them on herself by pushing them up against the wall and sliding them on her head. LOL! She’s not fussy either; her mom reveals she’s happy to wear the plastic from a four-pack or a six-pack of any brand. However, it is still unclear why she enjoys wearing these plastic helmets.
One theory is that it obstructs her vision, making her feel invisible and enhancing her hunting game. This theory makes sense, as she is only a year old and a very playful cat. Another reason could be that she’s trying to attract a beer sponsorship. Perhaps she understands that if her parents make more money, she will receive more treats and toys, and this hypothesis seems plausible. It is also theorized that since she has spent her life on the water, she now aspires to venture into space and become an astronaut or “Astrocat.” Ha! Finally, she may wear her beer can helmet simply because she’s orange, which seems like the most likely reason of all.

Why Do Cats Enjoy Playing with Plastic?
The simple answer is because it’s fun! Besides the crinkling sound that plastic makes and cats enjoy, some experts believe items like plastic bags that once carried food might also retain the scent they find appealing. However, cats should be kept from chewing on plastic items, as they pose a risk to their health. Instead, the PetHealth Network advises trading these items for mentally enriching games and toys with an alluring scent and sound.
People shared their ideas on this cat’s fashion choices. Viewer @tibbythetortie proposed, “It’s her safety helmet, so you can’t read her mind.” Good point. Viewer @pnw.blues offered, “Just like the rain hats…never want to mess up that mane. I do like the Astrocat thought.” That sounds plausible. Several others remarked, “Orange. That’s it. That’s my theory.” It’s a solid guess.
While we may never know Madeline’s reason for wearing a plastic helmet, one thing is sure. It makes her happy, and that’s all that really matters.
