Old Grammys Dress Code That Prohibits "Bare Fleshy Under Curves of the Buttocks" Goes Viral
The 2025 Grammys are officially over, but the drama over this year's dress code continues for...reasons. But, what exactly are the rules when it comes to music's biggest night of the year?
According to the show's executive producer, Raj Kapoor, the dress code for 2025 was “artistic black-tie.” However, he noted to People that "in the music industry, I guess that's up for interpretation."
Meanwhile, an old Grammys dress code from 2013 is going viral due to its wild language and extremely strict rules. Per Deadline, CBS asked "all talent appearing on camera" to "please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered." They noted that "thong type costumes are problematic" and asked guests to "please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack."
The dress code went on to note that "bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic," and requested that attendees "avoid transparent see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples."
Oh, and there's also this: "Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible 'puffy' bare skin exposure," which...I...wow.
On top of all that, the 2013 dress code asks guests to "please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts," notes that "foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared," and uses all-caps to say "OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST."
Truly without words.
