Nina West says RuPaul's 'meh' lip-sync reaction was 'cutting' on “Drag Race” season 11

"Silky went, 'What!?' Literally Silky took the words out of my mouth," Nina tells EW before returning on "All Stars 9."

The most brutal phrase on RuPaul's Drag Race is not "sashay away," it's "meh."

In an exclusive video interview with Entertainment Weekly (above), returning season 11 contestant and upcoming All Stars 9 queen Nina West reveals that she and Silky Nutmeg Ganache learned that the hard way when they elicited the infamous response from RuPaul when they lip-synced for their lives at the end of the fan-favorite makeover challenge.

"Ru said ‘meh’ like, twice. It was cutting," Nina recalls of the shocking moment, that ultimately led to her elimination after the pair performed to "No Scrubs" by TLC. "Silky went, 'What!?' Literally Silky took the words out of my mouth."

On the episode itself, both Nina and Silky — who'd later go on to compete on All Stars 6 and Canada vs. the World season 2 — were visibly shaken by RuPaul's reaction, with the latter making a confused face as Ru delivered the review.

Still, before eliminating her, RuPaul dubbed Nina "the pride of season 11," and the Columbus, Ohio-based performer and activist (her Nina West Foundation has helped raise over $2 million for charity) was eventually crowned Miss Congeniality on the final episode.

"A lot of people have said to me traveling around the world, 'Oh, you know you were robbed.' I wouldn’t have wanted any other result. I have lived the most amazing life since my time on Drag Race," Nina explains. "I’ve performed with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy and the entire Muppets, I’ve worked for Disney, proudly. I’ve worked with Weird Al Yankovic. But, all these things have come from my time on the show and having the opportunity to meet people and people seeing me at my most vulnerable."

Nina feels she's maintained her congenial vibe throughout All Stars 9, which sees each of the eight returning queens — also including Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Plastique Tiara, Roxxxy Andrews, Shannel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo — competing for a $200,000 check for the charity of their choice.

While she's excited about the addition of the charitable element, she sees this as the end of her Drag Race journey.

"I don't think I’ll ever come back. I think this is it for me. I was wanting to be very decisive about what that would look like," she says, promising that we're "going to get the same Nina West" we did on season 11.

"Questionable runways, because mama delivers," she jokes. "We’re going to have a lot of fun moments, but I think me being back in the Werk Room was as much of an adventure and journey for me, as it is an evolution of who I’ve become."
