NHL Florida Panthers Player Carter Verhaeghe Marries Model Casey Engleson in Palm Beach Wedding! (Exclusive)

"We really wanted a weekend that was all about spending time with our favorite people we love most," Engleson tells PEOPLE

NHL Florida Panthers Player Carter Verhaeghe and model Casey Engleson are married!

The pair exchanged vows on Saturday, July 27, at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach — a location that has special meaning to the couple's love story.

"When we first started dating, we always would go on drives together up A1A (the scenic beach road in South Florida) to Palm Beach and thought it was so beautiful," Engleson, a former Elite Management model, tells PEOPLE. "It’s always been one of our favorite spots. To get married there brought back the best memories from when we first started dating."

Those early days of dating began in 2021. Two years later Verhaeghe popped the question on August 4, 2023, in St. Lucia.

Calling the wedding "a perfect day," Engleson says she and Verhaeghe's vision was simple: "We really wanted a weekend that was all about spending time with our favorite people we love most."

The festivities kicked off with "an unplanned beach day with our guests, followed by a rehearsal dinner at Palm Beach’s iconic Renato’s restaurant."

"We then took a trolley with our bridal party and families back to the hotel for our welcome party where we had a cigar bar, with custom C+C cigar labels & a gelato cart," Engleson says.

The wedding day began in a similar fashion, with guests and the bride and groom participating in a pickleball tournament and complete with a coffee and mimosa bar.

The ceremony itself — planned by the couple and wedding planner 59 and Bluebell — was chic and intimate, with "lush unique florals, dark green velvet draping, and unique green and gold table lamps," Engleson says, adding, "Our planner Katie Arobogast and florist Ellie Lewis from Ellie’s Garden really did an amazing job."

Champagne greeted guests as they arrived at the outdoor ceremony, with Engleson walking down the aisle in a high neck, A-line lace gown by Pronovias Atelier — one inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress — to a string quartet playing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

The chic atmosphere extended to the reception, where the 130 guests dined on a plated dinner of roasted cauliflower salad with brûlée goat cheese, braised short ribs, Chilean sea bass, and mushroom pasta.

The couple entered the reception in style, walking in to the party to Verhaeghe’s goal song, “Turn my Swag On” by Soulja Boy.

For her second look, Engleson changed into a v-neck, mermaid wedding gown in embroidered tulle with a corset bodice featuring floral lace underlay and a hidden side slit. "I really wanted something unique and fun for my second look," she says of the Berta Privée dress.

The party extended into the wee hours, with servers passing out espresso martini shots at midnight to keep the festivities going. "We also had a lot of fun with late-night bites passed on the dance floor—chicken quesadillas, smash burgers and French fry cones," Engleson says.

A five-tier vanilla cake with dark chocolate mousse, fresh raspberries and chocolate-covered strawberries ended the night on a sweet note.

"The wedding was a dream come true! It was a perfect day," Engleson adds. "From pickleball in the morning with all of our close family and friends, to our beautiful outdoor sunset ceremony -the wedding came together better than we could have ever imagined."
