MKRs' Betty falls victim to porn scandal

My Kitchen Rules contestant Betty Banks has been forced to deny any involvement in multiple pornographic social media accounts that have used her name and image.

While Channel 7 have had the accounts removed after it was revealed they contained hardcore porn, the social media influencer has distanced herself from the controversy.

"Because I knew the offensive material was not me it was easy to ignore," Betty told The Daily Telegraph.

"My focus and creative energy is on Instagram, Facebook and my website."

At least three Twitter accounts were found to feature graphic content, including images, videos and sexual role-playing conversations, with the impersonators using Betty's name and image.

News Corp reports that the accounts were created in 2014 and 2015, well before the Sydney local found fame on the reality cooking show, but while photos of Betty were available online from modelling shoots she had previously done.

A spokesperson for the show told the publication while a background check is done during casting, unfortunately these accounts were missed.

"Once notified, Twitter moved quickly but whole issue is regrettable," they said.

"During the casting period all kinds of background checks take place. How this offensive material slipped through is not acceptable."

While MKR contestants are forced to hand over all personal social media accounts during their stint on the show, producers made an exception for Betty, who cooks alongside friend David, to the nature of her work.

She's been able to keep her Instagram active during the series due to it being her main source of income.

Earlier this week the popular contestant posed topless for a risqué photoshoot to celebrate International Women's Day.

Keeping her modesty by strategically placing her arms across her chest, the 27-year-old gazed seductively into the camera.

"May you be proud of your boobs, body, brain and every other woman standing beside you," Betty captioned the sexy shot before quoting actress Emma Watson's latest comments regarding nudity and feminism.
