The OTT wedding that cost over $8 million

When you’re the son of a Nigerian oil tycoon then spending millions of dollars on your wedding makes complete sense.

That’s exactly what Folarin Alakija did for his lavish nuptials to Iranian beauty Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar.

They hired out a castle, ordered one million flowers, a 12ft tall cake and even had Robin Thicke perform for them.

All up the event reportedly cost over $8 million!

The historic Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire was completely decked out ready to welcome the newlyweds and a star-studded guest list, which included Victoria’s Secret Angel, Shanina Shaik.

The cost of hiring the palace and state rooms is $55000, and they used the entire venue including The Woodstock, which is the ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill.

Celebrity florist Jeff Leatham, who bought 30 members of staff to help him, did the floral arrangements. It’s believed he charges upwards of $400,000 for his services.

The 12ft cake was put together by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium and was decorated by hundreds of roses and decorative doves.

After a decadent meal guests were treated to a surprise performance by Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke – who came with a price tag of $250,000.

Of course the evening ended with a spectacular fireworks display over the grounds.

The pair got engaged last year and had a traditional Nigerian wedding in Lagos in November.

Oh to be a fly on the wall at that wedding.
